The Davis Lodge overlooks the widest expanse of Lake Bloomington and is located near the Lake Ranger office. It was dedicated June 30, 1932 in honor of H.O. Davis. Mr. Davis, a former owner and editor of The Daily Pantagraph, had a vision and dedication that materially aided in the realization of a 75-year dream of an adequate water supply for the City of Bloomington.
Over 400 trees were used for the rustic log house lodge and each of the two huge fireplaces and chimneys used 50 tons of stone.
Having housed unsuccessful restaurants in the past, the lodge is now rented for events such as:
- Weddings
- Receptions
- Reunions
- Graduation Celebrations
- Meetings
- Dinners
In the late 1990s, the lodge needed so much work the City decided to rebuild it. The old lodge was razed, leaving only the two original stone fireplaces. It reopened in 2001 with heat, air conditioning, and an expanded and updated kitchen facility. It also boasts a beautiful deck along the lake side and one end of the lodge.
